We had a fantastic week at Deaf Camp 2008 despite mixed weather, which didn't stop us all having fun!

Deaf Camp 2008

We had 30 children and 19 staff all camping out in Walesby Forest and experiencing all the fun that was on offer. There were activities such as:

Climbing
Rafting
Kayaking
Long range archery
Air-rifling
Human football
Orienteering
Inflatable slide and assault course

First LOT Level 2 Weekend, 4-6 July 2008

We had a fun weekend at Edale for our first Leaders of Tomororw Level 2 weekend focusing on developing leadership.

The group had nine people who had finished their Level 1 courses spending two busy days working on their leadership skills. We had to fit our plans around the weather which was wet in the mornings and sunny in the afternoons! Flexibility was the key word for everyone.

The activities we did included a Search and Rescue for a missing "dummy" team member, a hike up to Mam Tor (avoiding a friendly or hungry ram!) and climbing. Everyone worked hard and did very well at completing the challenges given to them by Jez and Vinny (and the other great YHA Instructors who helped us).

We are looking for a deaf qualified chef with experience of cooking for large groups - if you are a chef or know someone who is, please do apply! You will get a contribution for your time!
